Phase one of the public realm works on Witton Street is nearing completion – delivered to a high standard by P Casey Ltd and managed on site by Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Highways team. “Our main objective has always been to maintain access to all businesses during the work programme” said Councillor Lynn Riley, Community and Environment Executive Member.
“This has happened and the Council would like to thank all the retailers for their patience during this time. Most people are happy to see these much needed improvements take place and we are keen for life to get back to normal as soon as possible.”
Designed and developed by CWAC’s Weaver Valley and Landscape teams and project managed by Highways, works have included replacement of the library steps; new paving throughout and the installation of benches, lighting columns and planting. Local Councillor Helen Weltman said: “The project is planned for completion by the end of November in good time for Christmas shopping and our Christmas Tree Light ‘switch on’ on November 30. I’d like to thank Wendy Turner from Rosebank Sports and Melissa Wilson from Macouti, who have both been really positive and understanding as work has progressed.”
Local Councillor Julia Tickridge said: “The completion of this first phase of Witton Street public realm improvements will provide a high quality shopping area for many of the town’s new and established independents with plans in hand to continue down Witton Street in the future.”
We would particularly like to thank the following businesses for their co-operation and support…
