As part of the ongoing roadworks at the junction between Castle Street and Chester Way, Northwich it will be necessary to resurface the existing carriageways under road closures. Work of this nature can be very disruptive to traffic, particularly in busy areas like this; with this in mind we plan to undertake the work on Sundays. This will mitigate the impact on both the travelling public and the nearby residents and businesses.
The dates for these works are as follows: .
- Sunday 23 March– All day road closure on Castle Street to enable us to lay the new road surface. A signed diversion route will be in place and variable message signs will be erected on site in advance of the works to inform motorists.

- Sunday 30 March – All day road closure on Chester Way to enable us to lay the new road surface. Navigation road and Queen Street will also be closed at their junctions with Chester Way. A signed diversion route will be in place and variable message signs will be erected on site in advance of the works to inform motorists. Closure and Diversion_Sunday 30 March 2014 (pdf 3.15 MB)
Additionally the planing operations, where we remove the surface of the road prior to surfacing, will require some lane closures which are listed below.
- Wednesday 19 March – Single lane closures on Castle Street to enable planning operations on each lane. Roads will remain open throughout.
- Wednesday 26 March – Single lane closures on Chester Way to enable planning operations on all lanes. Roads will remain open throughout.
Although the dates above are programmed, they are weather dependant. Whilst a degree of inconvenience is unavoidable, access for businesses and residents will be maintained at all times.
We apologise for any delays but believe that working in this way causes the least disruption overall and ensures that traffic can continue to flow through Northwich during the busiest, weekday periods.
